Oleg Nourepeissov was born in Alma-Ata, Kazakstan, and enrolled in the Art Academy of Alma-Ata at the age of sixteen. He was taught drawing and painting, and apprenticed in the decoration and restoration of churches under the guidance of recognized masters of his country. He then moved to St. Petersburg where he studied at the High Art Academy of Russia for three years. At that time he was commissioned to do very large oils. Noupeissov also became a skilled ceramist. He trained from 1989 to 1992 in a Russian atelier and was encouraged to create his own sculptures and ceramics, which were eventually exported all over Europe. It was during this time that he honed his realistic style, emulating the Flemish masters he so admired. His renditions of metal and glass are critically acclaimed. He gained great recognition in Sweden, where he has resided since 1992, and regularly exhibits all over the country.
Nourepeissov has acquired a specific style and maturity, stretched between his Russian Academic Training and Western influences. While he remains a Classicist, his compositions are surprisingly modern.
