Fauconnet,
Guy-Pierre
-
French, 1882-1920
Fauconnet had extraordinary talent, and a drawing executed by him
at age 11 was published. At the time of his graduation from the lycée
he won first prize in drawing at the Concours Général.
He collaborated with Jean Cocteau among others. During these years
he established himself as a major painter and engraver. He died prematurely
in 1920.

Gorostarzu,
Thierry de – French, b. 1958
Gorostarzu was born in Rennes, France in 1958. He studied law and
began a promising legal career, but decided his real interest and
talent lay in the arts. He began studying at the studios of the “Beaux
Arts de la Ville de Paris.” He spent four years in the modeling
studio of Daniel Jodet and an additional four years in the painting
studio of Jean Rouget. In addition to teaching art, he has had exhibitions
in the Galerie Blondel (Paris), the Salon d’Art Dourdan Art
Expo, New York and at the Galerie Lemonier in Versailles.

Hai, Ou Hou - Chinese,
b. 1957
Hai
Ou Hou was born in Beijing where she studied at the prestigious Central
Institute of Fine Art and Design. In 1984 she began teaching at the
Hubei Fine Art Institute in Wuhan. She now lives in the United States.

Hartley,
Jane – American
Jane
Hartley has studied art both locally and abroad. A graduate of the
Maryland Institute College of Art, she pursued a career in graphic design where
she created award-winning work recognized locally and nationally. Her fascination
with the techniques of the old masters led her to an apprenticeship at the Schuler
School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. Varied in theme and style, Hartley’s
art is largely influenced by 17th and 18th century masters. She has been displaying
her artwork for 30 years, and her paintings are found in numerous private and
corporate collections.

Herkomer,
Sir Hubert, RA - English, 1849-1914
Von
Herkomer was an English painter, illustrator, printmaker, stage
designer, writer and teacher of German birth. His works were first
exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art in London in 1869. Between
that date and 1904 he exhibited 158 paintings at the Royal Academy.
He was elected to membership in the Royal Academy in 1890.

Hughes is a graduate of the Pratt Institute of New York and a member
of the American Watercolor Society. He has traveled widely and his

Robert
Knudsen was born in 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his BFA
in 1995 at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. He
has shown his work in many exhibitions in Maryland. His work is represented
in the collection of the Mount Saint Agnes Theological Center for
Women in Baltimore.

Kugach, Ivan – Russian
b. 1972
Ivan Kugach was born in 1972
into a famous family of artists. Both his father Mikhail and his
grandfather Youri are renowned artists and academicians. Kugach studied
at the Surikov Academy of Art in Moscow. Since 1995 he has taken
part in international exhibitions in Barcelona, London and Madrid.

Lykov, Fedor – Russian
b. 1963
Lykov was born in 1963 in Moscow, where he lives and works.
In 1981 he graduated from the Moscow Special Art School. His paintings
are typical of the Russian School, and his work is well-known and
documented in Russia.

Millar,
Addison Thomas – American, 1860 – 1913
Millar was born in Ohio in 1860. He moved to Cleveland in 1879,
where he began painting portraits and landscapes, and to New York
in 1883, where he studied etching and painting. In 1892 he became
a student of the great landscape painter William M. Chase. In 1894
Millar studied in Paris under Boldini and Benjamin Constant. He
traveled to North Africa where he found inspiration for many of
his more popular paintings. Millar was killed in a car accident
in 1913. His
paintings and etchings are represented in the Detroit Institute
of Arts; Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; New York Public
Library, New York City; Rhode Island School of Design, Providence;
Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C. and the Butler
Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio.

Morgan,
Julia - American
Julia Morgan majored in studio art at Mount Holyoke College where
she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also studied in Aix-en-Provence,
France. The artist has had numerous exhibitions of her works here
and in Canada and has won several awards. In addition to her painting,
she is a member of the adjunct faculty, Williams College as well as
Museum Education Coordinator, Williams College Museum of Art.

Murphy,
Michael Vincent – English, b. 1943
Michael
Murphy was born in Poole, Dorset, England in 1943. From 1960 to 1983
he worked in the field of commercial art. In 1984 he studied at Port
Elizabeth School of Art and Design, and in 1985 he devoted himself
to painting full time. Beginning in 1979 he has had numerous exhibitions.
His works are represented in public collections in Port Elizabeth
and Johannesburg as well as in many private and corporate collections.

Nefedkin, Oleg – Russian
b. 1956
Oleg Nefedkin was born January
25, 1956 in Moscow. In 1976 he entered the prestigious Surikov Academy
of Art in Moscow, from which he graduated with honors in 1982. From
1986 to 1987 Nefedkin worked on the reconstruction and restoration
of the famous Danilov Monastery while studying iconography and monastery
art. Since 1988 he has had numerous one-man shows in several countries,
including the United States, England, France, the Netherlands, and
Germany, as well as in his native Russia.

The artist, who studied at the Central Institute of Fine Art and Design
in Beijing, now teaches at the Hubei Fine Art Institute. He is considered

Pavan began his artistic studies at l'Ecole Des Beaux-arts at Sao
Paolo, where his parents emigrated in 1953. He gained fame as a sculptor,
photographer, painter and musician. His works adorn private collections
on four continents.

Préval
,Christiane de - French, b. 1876
Christiane de Préval was born at Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées),
France on September 20, 1876. Showing early promise, she studied with
the French artist Marcel Baschet. In an age when few women were recognized
in the arts, her mastery of the medium allowed her to overcome prejudice.
Beginning in 1911, she regularly showed her works at the famous Salon
des Artistes Français in Paris. In 1922 she won the silver
medal at the Salon. Préval is particularly well known for
her fine interior paintings.

was born in Rotterdam in 1867. He was a student at the Academy of
Art in Rotterdam. He later studied in Paris and Munich, and he is
best known for his portraits and interiors.

A painter of landscapes, Tisseron studied under Robert and
Troyon of the famed Barbizon School. He had his début at the Salon

Troxler,
Shannon – American
From
1984 to 1987 Shannon Troxler studied at the Schuler School of Fine
Arts in Baltimore, a small classical art school emphasizing techniques
used by the old masters. She also studied and worked in Hyannis Port,
Mass., in New York City, and in Jackson, Wyoming. She made sketching
and painting tours in Ireland as well as in Florence and Tuscany.
In 1991 she studied with the renowned Chinese artist Zhen Wexin.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions and shows.

Vallée,
Ludovic - French, 1864-1939
Vallée
exhibited at the Salon Des Indépendants in Paris in 1903.
His works were also exhibited at the Exposition Nationale and the
Exposition Des Tuileries. He painted a number of oils in the manner
of Signac.

Emile Charles - Belgian, 1846 - 1933
Wauters was born in Brussels in 1846. He trained in Brussels
and later worked in Paris where he had his début in 1870.
His paintings hang in museums in Antwerp, Brussels, Dresden, Liege
and Zurich.

Weyl was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised in the Washington/Virginia
area. He studied in Europe and was influenced by the Barbizon painters.
He nevertheless adhered the academic tradition of the Hudson River
painters. He is known locally for his paintings of Rock Creek Park
in Washington.

Zelano, Ellen -
American
Zelano is from Rhode Island where she was
an elementary school teacher. Later she spent a year teaching in the Netherlands,
and she spent her weekends immersed in the great art galleries
of Amsterdam. She and her husband returned to Washington,
DC where she became a professional artist. She teaches at
the Corcoran College of Art and Design and the Art League, Inc.. Her
work has been exhibited in Washington, DC and New York City and
is found in many collections around the country.
